GILMA LAINEZ
ESOL & SPANISH TEACHER
I am an experienced foreign language teacher with a Virginia teaching license to teach English as a Second Language PREK-12 and Spanish PREK-12.
I have worked as a foreign language teacher for 20 years. I taught ESL in University of El Salvador, Central America, for 13 years. In Virginia, I have worked for institutions like Northern Virginia Community College and Fairfax County Public Schools, teaching both ESOL and Spanish. I also have plenty of experience teaching blended courses using LMSs like Moodle and Blackboard. I have received training on instructional design and how to create effective online learning environments.
I have a passion for creating high-quality and engaging content for my students. I am very creative and always jump at the opportunity to be part of educational projects that involve making videos, taking photos, redesigning content, and training other teachers.
I appreciate you taking the time to look at some samples of material I have created for my classes. To best experience the use of audios and links, I suggest opening the presentations using the arrow on the right upper corner. Thank you!

I made this fun personality quiz in which students had to find out what ocean animal they were. The questions they answered helped them review previously studied vocabulary like weather, seasons, and food. I enjoy finding ways to recycle vocabulary and link it with new topics.
For this assignment, I recorded the names of the different ocean activities we were studying, so students could practice them as many times as needed. At the end, students had to match the audios with the pictures.

I had so much fun making this video for my school's Virtual Field Day in June 2020.
